How to Make Moana’s Necklace

So I’ve fully decided that I’m going to post every Thursday! (Says the one who posted this on a Friday) So there ya go.

Recently I became completely and utterly obsessed with Moana. It is the best movie of all time (no lie).

In this blog post I am going to show you how to make Moana’s beautiful necklace. So you can probably imagine that your going to need a few things but honestly I never have anything in my house when I need it so if I managed to have everything for this DIY then you probably have it too. Here is a list of the things you’ll need.

Hot Glue Gun                                 

String

Nail Polish or Paint

Plate or a Bowl

Beads or Shells

Scissors

Step 1

Heat up your glue gun and remember you have to be so careful when using one. Take the back of the plate or bowl you are using and draw an oval or circle like shape with the hot glue.  Sorry about the bad quality of this picture but you get the idea. 

If you look closely at the picture of Moana’s necklace (and there’s plenty of them on google) you can see that the silver part is slightly raised. So once the first part of your shape is dry you want to go over the top right corner to make the silver part. It’s probably best if you look at a picture while you do the part.

Step 2

Now once all of the glue is dry carefully peel your shape off the back of the plate. Now take your scissors and trime around the edges to make sure that it is completely even.

 

Step 3         

Now it’s time to paint. I used nail polish but I’m pretty sure that you can use any type of paint.            

 

Step 4.

Now you can take you string and shells/beads and you first want to tie a small knot at one end of the string and then thread a bead/shell to the bottom of it. Then tie another knot to secure the bead/shell in place. Repeat this process one more time and then use a scissors or a knife to cut a whole in your main main head (the one you just made) and thread that on. Repeat the small bead/shell process two more times to even your knecklace out.

Step 5.

You want to be able to secure your necklace around your neck so the easiest option is to just tie the strings every time or else the other option is to use fasteners. I used fasteners but it was a bit of a struggle trying to use them.
